About Us

Our History

The R D Sethna Scholarship Fund conducts one of India’s oldest and well-respected loan scholarship programmes, assisting outstanding and deserving Indian students of all communities.

The loan scholarship programme was initiated, in or around 1938, after the demise of Mr. Rustom D. Sethna, a Parsi Zoroastrian Indian philanthropist. Mr. Sethna’s approach to philanthropy was, during his lifetime, directed to the specific cause of higher education, for the promotion and encouragement of scientific, technical, industrial and commercial instruction or education, in ways beneficial to society. After his demise, his philanthropy lives on, as reflected in the work of the R D Sethna Scholarship Fund.

The loan scholarship programme encapsulates the noble ideals of Mr. R. D. Sethna for granting financial assistance to Indian students to broaden their academic interests and, in turn, benefit the Nation.
